Finn came out to show at the Colorado Kennel Club on 02/18/2023 and 2/19/2023. We were honored to be awarded Select Dog for a 4 point major under Judge Fred Vogel in a line up of 8 very nice male specials. It’s so fun to have him back in the ring!
Ridgeback Ownership
2022 National Specialty
We had an amazing week in Ohio at the 2022 RRCUS National Specialty! It was Trudy’s first road trip and she was a pill. YIKES! Hotels are not her favorite thing because she’s an easily-bored puppy so we made trips to the off leash park where she and Finn could stretch their legs.
She participated in the 4-6 month Beginner puppy class and I was so proud of her! We didn’t win but she got to show off and gait on the blue carpet like a baby rock star. :-)
On the last day of the week, Finn took his turn in the Best of Breed class among about 100 males. My goal was to make a cut. Imagine my excitement when he made two cuts! We were able to hang in their until the judge got down to the last 30 or so dogs before we were edged out. I am SO PROUD of this boy. I’m also thrilled that Catie and Riggs made a cut in their group. Riggs works so well for Catie.. anything to please his mama! These boys are so nice!!
The Boy Band Boys are Making Waves
CH Piney Creek Here Comes the Sun RN, CGC, TKN and CH Piney Creek Larger Than Life CGC, TKN are making waves in the show ring. Both finished their championships early and are currently working on their Grand Championships while we wait for them to turn 2 and get health tested. We can’t wait to see them grow up!!
Pepper has been bred... now we wait
Pepper was bred on December 14 and 16, 2020. We know that we timed everything perfectly. Now we wait for ultrasound to see if the breeding took. If everything went well, we will have puppies due on Valentine’s weekend. We are cautiously optimistic. :-)
Breeder of Merit status
I’m so proud to announce that we are now an AKC Breeder of Merit. Since we have litters about once every 2 years and I do all of the showing, it has taken us a little while to accomplish this task. I’m very proud!!
In order to be accepted into the program a breeder must:
Have a history of at least 5 years involvement with AKC events.
Have earned AKC Conformation, Performance or Companion event titles on a minimum of 4 dogs from AKC litters they bred or co-bred.
Be a member of an AKC club.
Certify that applicable health screens are performed on your breeding stock as recommended by the Parent Club.
Demonstrate that 100% of the puppies produced are individually AKC registered.
Moose is a CHAMPION!
And that’s a wrap! Moose (CH Piney Creek Moose on the Loose) finished his champion with a fourth major win in Colorado Springs. We are so proud of this lovey boy! Next up… LURE COURSING!
Puppies are here!
We are so excited to share that Luna's whelping went well and we have eight beautiful puppies on the ground. We have four girls and four boys. They're nearly two weeks old so we are breathing a little easier now. All of them are gaining about 2 ounces a day and eyes are just starting to open. Fun times ahead for the next seven weeks!
National Specialty 2016
We have just returned from the 2016 National Specialty show. We are so proud that Crixus earned a second place (3 points) in lure coursing. It is a huge accomplishment and we are thrilled!
Peat and Crixus are great buddies! It makes it easy to travel with them.. thank goodness!
New Website!
So happy to have designed a new website where we can chronicle the accomplishments of our Piney Creek dogs and keep visitors up to date on our breeding plans!
